The NHS Water Stewardship project will start in October. Project Concordia (Round 3) is already running and has been working with hospitals to mitigate the demand on potable water generated by precautionary and sometimes unnecessary flushing to prevent the development of Legionella in pipes and tanks. MOSL has made the introduction between the two projects to share learnings and experiences and potentially involve the same hospital in both projects |

Preparations are progressing well. Engagements are ongoing with a number of NHS Trusts to identify and select four hospitals for the Programme. Overall, the project remains on track to confirm hospital selections in October, in line with the Programme plan. The other key action at this stage is to establish the Programme Steering Group and schedule the Programme Kick-Off Meeting |

January 2026 |
Between October and December 2025, four acute hospitals across two NHS Trusts were selected and formally onboarded. Governance arrangements were established, including an agreed Steering Group, terms of reference, escalation routes and reporting processes. A structured programme methodology was designed, integrating water stewardship principles with site mapping, risk identification and action planning. Detailed programme planning was completed, refining workshop sequencing to strengthen engagement and outcomes. A Steering Group kick-off meeting and hospital kick-off workshops were delivered, providing a robust foundation for Phase 2, in which the project will deliver its Water Stewardship Partnership Programme. |
