Aim
Ready to Read aims to unlock insight captured in the CMOS free text fields by harnessing the capabilities of Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) natural language processing techniques. An AI solution will convert unstructured free text meter and outreader descriptor data held in CMOS into meaningful and actionable metrics that can be applied by trading parties to identify, prioritise, and resolve meter read and accessibility issues.

Following the Strategic Panel (Panel) meeting held on 3 September 2025, MOSL presented a recommendation to formally close the Ready to Read project (MIF reference 2023-R3-009). The Panel acknowledged the extensive discussions and preparatory work undertaken by Sagacity and Clear Business Water, and recognised the commitment and collaboration shown by all parties in seeking to develop the project. After careful consideration, the Panel concluded that it is not in the best interests of the market to proceed further with this project. The key factors in reaching this decision were:

The Sponsor (ClearBusiness Water) the Developer (Sagacity) and MOSL are reviewing this project against challenges posed by contractual requirements, resource constraints and evolving technology and process in the market. Another update will be posted in August. |
