Following the Nominations Meeting held today, 17 September, at 3pm, we are pleased to announce Jo Dow, CEO of Business Stream, as the new Unassociated Retailer Non-Executive Director of the MOSL Board.
As an elected Board member, Jo was voted in by Unassociated Retailer members from the four nominations received.
Jo has been the CEO at Business Stream since October 2014. She has over fourteen years’ experience of operating in a competitive retail water market, initially in the Scottish market and then more recently in the English market where Business Stream have been active since 2012.
Jo initially started her career in private practice before joining Scottish and Southern Energy in 1998. She moved to Scottish Water in 2002, before joining Business Stream in 2006, as Finance Director.
In January 2020, Jo was appointed as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of the Central Market Agency (the Market Operator in Scotland) and is also a member of the Audit and Risk Committee and the Renumeration Committee.
Jo was also appointed as the retailer representative on the Senior Water Demand Steering Group established to advise government, regulators and industry on progress, ambition and necessary action to reduce demand for water, to ensure the English water supply is resilient to climate change and population growth.
Jo’s extensive experience in the water industry, including relevant Chair and Executive roles mean she is well placed to contribute towards MOSL’s key objectives of ensuring that the market operates effectively and efficiently, providing a ‘level playing field’ for all companies operating in the market, and identifying and mitigating any risks to these goals.
In welcoming Jo, Chair of the Board, Anne Heal, said:
“I am delighted to welcome Jo as the new Unassociated Retailer member of the MOSL Board. Her extensive experience in operating at a senior level across both the English and Scottish markets will be invaluable as we look at ways to make the market easier to do business with and reduce complexity. Jo’s positions on the Senior Water Demand Steering Group and the BITC Climate Action Group also make her perfectly placed to advise and provide insight on how the non-household market can contribute to wider environmental goals.
In welcoming Jo, I would also like to thank Josh Gill for his contribution to the Board over the past three years. Josh’s insight as CEO of Everflow, a small and growing new entrant has been crucial in helping us understand the unique challenges in the market. He has also been a valuable member of the Data and Digital Committee and in helping us make significant progress in delivering the Bilateral Transactions Programme.”
Jo will formally take up her position as Board member on 18 September. Her full biography is available here.
