On behalf of the Strategic Panel, MOSL is working to define an Open Data Strategy for the business retail market.
To support this work, we have appointed Cross 8 to develop an Open and Shared Data Benefits Case and define the governance for an open data proof of concept.
CMOS data is currently only accessible to licensed trading parties (i.e. incumbent water companies and retailers). We also publish aggregated market data to support greater insight on water usage, demand reduction, as well as key market metrics such as switching and meter reading.
Open and shared data has the potential to enable trading parties, and other stakeholders, to develop more tailored service offerings for customers, improve transparency and decision-making and drive economic growth and innovation. However, the full scope of benefits for sharing data more widely, may not yet be fully understood.
To define the potential benefits, we’ve reached out to stakeholders asking for their participation in online interviews with Cross 8. The interviews will focus on understanding companies’ interests and how they may use market data to improve customer services, environmental outcomes and any other data use cases. The findings will be used to inform the benefits case, which will be presented to the Strategic Panel in February. All responses will be anonymised, and no commercial or competitive information will be shared. If you would like to get involved, please contact
