MOSL has become the latest member of Business in the Community (BITC), the Prince’s Responsible Business Network.

Market Operator Services Limited (MOSL) joins more than 600 businesses who have committed to achieving their business objectives while also considering wider societal need.

BITC has members across the UK who are working with communities to create thriving places for people to live and work. BITC brings businesses together to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing communities, from protecting the planet to gender and racial equality.

The role of businesses in creating a fair and healthy society has been at the core of BITC’s agenda since it was founded by HRH Prince of Wales in 1982. For 40 years, BITC has been leading businesses to put responsibility into the heart of decision making, so that business decisions have a positive impact on the planet, communities, and people.

Dr Sarah McMath, CEO of MOSL, said: “We are delighted to be joining BITC and to be joining the many likeminded companies that are working to balance business needs with those of the community.

Joining BITC adds new impetus to one of the primary reasons why the competitive water market was launched in 2017, namely to deliver sustainable, environmental benefits through more efficient use of water, reduced carbon emissions and more innovation and better use of technology.

As the market operator for the non-household water market, we believe we are in a unique position, at the heart of the market, to help the sector to achieve both its net zero and water consumption reduction goals.

We have taken several steps this year to outline our role in supporting our environmental goals, such as through our work on Data Insight improvement programme, improving our offering to colleagues around wellbeing, equality, and diversity and inclusion and working in partnerships with local organisations.

By joining BITC and accessing its accredited tools and established network, it will help us to develop our first Sustainability Plan enabling us to provide clarity to colleagues and the wider community alike about our commitment to make a positive impact, inspire positive action and empower positive change.

Amanda Mackenzie OBE, CEO of Business in the Community, said: “Businesses can achieve more when they unite together and that’s why we’re delighted to welcome MOSL as the latest member of BITC. Our members recognise the huge benefits that come from working together to create thriving communities across the country and with our committed network of business leaders, we make that happen.

“Over the past 40 years, businesses have tackled some of the biggest social and environmental issues in the UK, but there is still more work to be done. BITC members like MOSL will help lead the way for businesses to not just address the challenges ahead, but to collectively use their expertise and leadership to bring about long-lasting change.”
