MOSL has published its response to Ofwat's consultation on the review of the Retail Exit Code (REC) which protects non-household customers who have not engaged in the market since it opened in April 2017, and remain on default tariffs.
In our response we highlighted the review must be considered a critical opportunity to re-evaluate decisions made at market opening in order to enable the market to deliver value to all customers.
While we agreed that some form of price protections are still needed for lower usage customers, we encouraged Ofwat to reconsider the proposal to retain price protections at current levels in order to enable improved service offerings to customers, in the way of water efficiency and tailored services.
We are keen to work closely with Ofwat through its REC review, PR24 and the reform of the Market Performance Framework (MPF) to ensure they form a complementary regime that can deliver improved outcomes for business customers, the environment, and the market itself.
