As world leaders meet to discuss water scarcity on Water Day at COP28, MOSL, we are pleased to announce we have been awarded the Waterwise Checkmark for Offices award.
The award validates MOSL’s commitment to water efficiency by recognising our efforts to raise awareness, change behaviours and put in place efficient practices to reduce our water usage. The Checkmark scheme is awarded to office buildings, or parts of office buildings, that have the right technologies, signage, and engagement programmes to encourage water-efficient behaviours and reduce water waste within the office environment.
The UK is facing greater pressure on its water resources due to the impact of climate change, population growth and changes in water use. Offices, as businesses, are places where water usage can be reduced through targeted interventions and greater awareness. As a responsible business and as the market operator of the non-household retail water market, it is important that we ‘practice what we preach’ in terms of water savings.
Lyvia Nabarro, Head of Market Engagement and Communications at MOSL and Sponsor of our Sustainability Plan, said: “I am delighted MOSL has been awarded the Waterwise Checkmark for Offices for our office in Southampton. I feel incredibly proud to work for a company focused on doing the right thing and making a difference not only in the market we operate but for our people, the environment, and our society.
The Waterwise Checkmark for Offices demonstrates our commitment to being a responsible business and implementing practices to drive water efficiency in the office and our homes.
Waterwise has been a fantastic support to us as we pulled together our application, and we look forward to continuing to work with them as we further promote water efficiency with our stakeholders and local community partners.”
Nicci Russell, CEO, Waterwise, commented: “We're delighted to have awarded MOSL's Southampton office our Checkmark for Offices award! This award recognises and rewards those offices who are
committed to excellence in water efficiency and MOSL's Southampton office certainly are. We were particularly impressed with the water saving culture being created at the Southampton office through constant water-saving tips being shared, as well as activities and conversations being held across the organisation linked to their wider Sustainability Plan. It's especially critical for organisations in the water sector like MOSL to practice what they preach and be water efficiency 'role models' to other businesses to inspire and empower them to take action in light of the challenges our water resources face.”
The Waterwise Checkmark for Offices award is one of the 12 commitments we made in our 2023/24 Sustainability Plan launched on World Water Day in March this year.
