MOSL is delighted to announce that it has become the first to join the Women’s Utilities Network (WUN) as a not-for-profit organisation as part of its new membership.
MOSL has worked closely with the Women's Utilities Nework’s (WUN) co-founder and Managing Director of Utilities at Gobeyond Partners, Hayley Monks, to develop the business case for the new membership type, which will enable more organisations across the sector to access benefits and career support through the WUN.
The business case was unanimously approved by the WUN Board at its March 2022 meeting and will be formerly launched in coming weeks.
In welcoming MOSL to the network, Hayley said: “Its great to have MOSL on board as members and we are delighted to have workedwith them to develop our first not-for-profit membership. We believe this will extend the WUN’s reach and give greater opportunities for more women in the sector to connect, support, develop and encourage one another – which is at the heart of our mission.”
WUN was established to give women the skills and confidence they need to build lasting, fulfilling careers in the utility sector. Founded by a group of women who have themselves built successful careers in both energy and water, WUN seeks to help other women to build the right networks, get the right training and take control of their own work lives at whichever stage of their career they are at.
On joining the network, MOSL CEO, Sarah McMath, said: “We know that the utilities sector is lacking in diversity with women under-represented, particularly in senior roles. After 25+ years working in the water industry, I am passionate about creating genuinely diverse and inclusive work environments. With over 2,300 members and followers and a dedicated mentoring service, the WUN has created a community for women with a passion for utilities and provided a platform for them to build confidence and progress their careers in sector. I look forward to us working with WUN and sharing this passion for progress across all areas of diversity and inclusion.”
Notes to Editors:
Women’s Utilities Network
- WUN was started in 2018 when a group of likeminded women, working in utilities, united around a common cause. The five founders were not only passionate about the industry they worked in, but also passionate about the contribution women were making and could continue to make in the future
- WUN is free to join and open to any woman working in the utilities space – from customer services, operational, metering and everything in between. The purpose is to create a network of support to help women develop their skills and career within the sector
- WUN is the go-to network for women in utilities and the monthly events connect women on a variety of topics from personal development to how we are going to get to Net Zero. WUN also offers a mentoring service for those looking to build their careers and learn from other women who are building or who have already built successful careers in the sector.
