Today, MOSL publishes its bi-annual trading party peer comparison league tables, showing trading party performance against the Market Performance Standards (MPS) and the Operational Performance Standards (OPS) for the first six months of this financial year (April – September 2019).
These tables were first published in May 2019 as part of MOSL’s Annual Market Performance Report (AMPR). Since their original publication, we have seen trading parties undertaking significant programmes of work aimed at cleansing data, improving business processes and investing in better ways of working, much of which has involved close joint working between retail and wholesale parties.
We commend those companies who have all retained their top position from the previous year against their peers for MPS performance and note the significant improvement in retailer and wholesaler MPS performance by a number of trading parties currently working closely with MOSL on targeted data improvement plans.
We are also encouraged to see improving levels of wholesaler performance against OPS measures. However, wholesalers at the lower end of the league tables, delivering lower levels of performance for retailers, will be given increased focus over coming months with a view driving marked improvement.

“These measures are an important tool in ensuring trading parties are held accountable for their performance. We strongly encourage retailers and wholesalers to retain a sense of urgency in delivering improved outcomes for business customers and promote collaborative programmes of work between parties to ensure the water retail market delivers on the expectations set out when the market first opened almost three years ago.
“This year we also saw the introduction of charges for OPS and we will be initiating the first batch of rectification plans against OPS in early November. We would expect companies who become subject to these plans, to show the same upward trend in performance as we have seen where plans have been triggered against other standards in the framework.”
