The Strategic Panel has announced the members of a committee responsible for overseeing the performance of companies operating in the competitive business water market.
The newly-formed Performance Assurance Committee (PAC) takes over from the Market Performance Committee (MPC), which has been responsible for monitoring companies’ performances and ensuring they meet their obligations since the market opened in 2017.
As well as being responsible for applying performance charges and trading party audits, the PAC will be responsible for any new financial tools and incentives resulting from the programme to reform the Market Performance Framework.
Following a review, the Committee has been reconstituted to improve the balance of representatives operating in the market with the inclusion of independent members.
The PAC has an independent Chair and two new independent members. It also includes three wholesaler representatives, three retailer representatives, as well as members from CCW, Ofwat and MOSL.

Commenting on the appointments, Trisha McAuley, Chair of the Strategic Panel, said: “We are delighted to welcome the members of the Performance Assurance Committee.
“The Committee will play an important role in ensuring the market is delivering for customers by setting expectations and monitoring companies’ performances.
“With a new Chair and many new members, including highly experienced independent voices, I am confident that the PAC’s stewardship of the market will help it mature and flourish in the years ahead.
“I would like to reiterate my thanks to members of the MPC and congratulate them on their achievements, not least its efforts to improve meter reading performances, and introduction of a more ‘holistic’ view of companies’ performances.
The first meeting of the Performance Assurance Committee is due to be held later this month (November). For more information, please click here.
