To mark Black History Month this October, MOSL's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead, Abu Rashid, spoke with British Water's CEO, Lila Thompson.
Lila shared her thoughts on diversity in the workplace, highlighting that, although we have come far in calling out racist behaviours in the workplace, there is still a long way to go:
“I think we need to get to a place in workplaces where we have more authentic, genuine behaviours and the only way to get that is to […] create spaces of safety and then obviously, where necessary, to call out behaviours that persist and do something about that. You [...] need to have champions within businesses who champion that at a high level, right down to junior levels. You [need to] have different people who are empowered to challenge constructively and make sure that cultures change within organisations."
